Wicksteed Park is the new host of this highly popular and valued Literary Competition.
- We intend to keep the high professional standards set by the BBC.
- We have teamed up with Northamptonshire Libraries, The Latimer Arts College and Oxford University Press.
- The whole family can compete for the top prize of £100 (kindly donated by Wicksteed Park.).
- The prizes will be awarded at the Write ’08 Live on Sunday July 13th 2008 at Wicksteed Park.
What we're looking for
The judges are looking for an original and imaginative use of English. You can submit any kind of creative writing including prose, poetry, lyrics and plays, or a mixture of different genres. We want to be entertained, moved or made to think.
- Each entry should have a maximum of 1,000 words or 5,000 characters
- Only one entry per person
- You must live or work in Northamptonshire
How to enter
All entries must be sent to us online. The way to do this is to use the "Submit An Entry" button.
You can type out your entry in a word document then select it all with (Ctrl-A), then copy it with (Ctrl –C) and paste it (Ctrl – V) into the entry form.
Closing date
All entries have to be received by us by the end of Friday, 23rd May 2008.
Categories
There are just five categories:
- Up to 7 Year olds (KS1) (1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes)
- 7-11 year olds (KS2) (1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes)
- 11-14 year olds (KS3) (1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes)
- 14-16 year olds (KS4) (1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes)
- The Wicksteed Literary Prize awarded to the best school entered piece of work
- 16+ Adults (10 commendation Certificates)
- The £100 prize awarded to the best overall entry from all above categories.
Postal entries or emailed word processor documents will not be accepted
